Here is the scenario: 1) Our server running Exchange 2003 under Windows 2003 Server crashed. We were able to recover all the files including the data stores (.edb files) 2) We have another server running Exchange 2003 and would like to import the data from the crashed server into the exchange running on the second server (it obviously has a different name from the original). We plan to then export several of the mailboxes (not all of them) to .PST files. 3) We have tried to just copy the files into the directory tree for exchange. We have also tried EXmerge. Neither seems to work with raw data files. Question: How do we "import" the mailboxes from the dead server into this second server running exchange?

Unless the new server is identical entirely,. you can't just open/mount the files. If you want to build a recovery server from backup, you can use your backup media - or you can check out www.quest.com Recovery Manager for Exchange; a very handy thing to keep around.
