Re: Exchange server 2000 information store size limit and defrag / compress
there is a 16 GB limit on the store in exchange 2000.
You need to keep an eye on it to make certain you dont go over that, as you
will not be able to send email if you go over.
The only warning you will get is when it goes over the limit, you will see
that in event viewer.
You will need to do a defrag to clear off any space. use eseutil.
This will require free space that is 110% the size of your store.
If you dont have that, you can do an offline defrag, and copy the temp files
over to another server.
I know this only becuase last week we went over 16 GB, I did not have enough
free space to do a defrag, had to do an offline defrag by redirecting the
copy of the databases to another server.
here is a link for eseutil:

Re: Exchange server 2000 information store size limit and defrag / compress
Geez, I'm sorry for sending this without reading the group first. I started
the message in the morig so i wouldn't forget, then had no time to address
it and finally sent it off before going home without having a chance to
search first. Thanks for advising me anyway. I will try these things
tomorrow...
