Hi Folks; I'm running Exchange 2000 and I had some problems where the IIS services would re-start and log Event ID 7031 errors. To that end, I followed this KB article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304166) and restored a relatively recent IIS metabase backup. The problem is my first virtual server instance will not send email. It sits in the queue folder. That VS will receive email. I have a second virtual server and it runs on the same IP except on port 57. This VS is used strictly for relaying mail for two websites. It works perfectly. I've tried using telnet from the Exchange machine and I can telnet into other external email servers. What could be stopping my first (default) VS from sending email?
I don't know why but all of a sudden it's working - whew! The event logs show that the VS1 instance was re-started. After that it appears to work. I hope I haven't wasted anyone's time -thanks!
