Delayed message delivery?
Hi All,

One of my users has reported that email sent to her frequently take days to
deliver. For example, she received email this morning, Monday, that was
sent on Thursday last week. She also did not receive an email sent to a
distrobution list over the weekend. She is listed in the distribution list.

These are all internal email, to the best of my knowledge anyways, and we
are running Exchange 2003 with Outlook 2003 clients. This user is running
Windows XP, if that helps.

How can I go about troubleshooting this problem? Why would just the one
user be experiencing this issue? This isn't happening to all messages sent
to her.

Thanks in advance,
Linn

Re: Delayed message delivery?
I'd start with message tracking...see where they're being held up...for
email from the Internet or other Exchange servers, you can examine the
header info, too...that should get you started...

Re: Delayed message delivery?
Thanks for the tip Susan. Message tracking was turned on when I went to
look and I tracked down the one message and it was sent and delivered within
the same second according to the logs. Of course the user claimes otherwise
and didn't have any other example messages for me to look at.

Is there a way to track when Outlook picked up the message? The user is not
in cached mode.

As I mentioned this was a message that was sent to a distribution list and
everyone else on the list received the message in a timely fashion. Which
just means that the message was sent on Sunday night and everyone else saw
it Monday morning when they returned to work and logged in. My user had
someone else just print it for her.

Thanks,
Linn
