Hi, I am managing an Exchange 2000 server from a Windows XP machine. I have created a number of contacts that I want to add to a Universal Distribution Group. When I want to add the contact I have to click on the object types button and check 'Contact' to be able to add the contact. Is there any way to have contacts checked permanently/automatically? Now I have to check that box every time I want to manage contacts in a group. So far, my googling was to no avail :( Kind regards Rick
Not that I know of however as alternative you can manage the members of the distribution group through the Outlook address book by going to the properties of the distribution list. From there it is easy to add or remove members. Yes, that is true. As we are looking at a rather large number of distributiongroups and thus an even mucht larger number of contacts, I do not want to have the contacts show up in the GAL. Creating a seperate address book is no option as my users will revolt at just the thought that they might have to look somewhere else to send someone an e-mail....
That isn't what I was saying. You can maintain membership (add and remove) for an existing DL in the GAL using the Outlook client.
