Event ID 9582
Hello all...

I am not the exchange admin guy but I have noticed this warning on the
exchange server’s event viewer....

Just to lay the facts…

We have Exchange 2000 standard SP3 plus Rollup package posted August 2004
installed.

One public store and one Mail store.

That same server is also the root Domain controller of our Active Directory
environment with all FSMOs roles and it is a dns Active Directory integrated
service.

The server is a dual 1GHz processor with 2Gb ram Windows server 2000 SP4.

The eventide warning is listed below…

"The Virtual memory necessary to run your Exchange server is fragmented in
such a way that normal operation may begin to fail. It is highly recommended
that you restart all Exchange services to correct this issue. "

I read MS knowledge base 883527

and there is a hot fix for this...

but I would like to know if anyone has experienced this warning.. if so what
is the root of this error...

I know we support Pop3 services but I am viewing the Exchange system manager
and I am seeing in the protocols folder that IMAP4 virtual server is running.
We don’t use this..

Could this be our bottleneck for this event id error???

Help??

Re: Event ID 9582
Doubtful. If you don't use IMAP4, stop the service and set it to disabled.
Your server is probably overloaded for its spec. Try disabling anything that
you don't need and preferably put another box live to be a GC/DC/DNS to help
load balance.
