We have 2 Exchange 2003 servers on our network. Both use DNS to route traffic but the 2ndary sends everything through the primary Exchange server for some reason?? This is a problem as both are seperated by a VPN over a WAN and Id prefer for all traffic to go directly out through our ISP and into the internet - not through the VPN WAN and through the other Exchange server. Is there a way to do this without using smart hosts? Thanks, Grant
If the Wan you mention is the internet, other wise why vpn, you would need to configure vpn split tunnel on the other end for it to send packets directly to the isp rather than through the tunnel. This is also considered a security risk with the firewall most likely located at corporate headquarters with the split being bidirectional on the other end leaving the that exchange server vulnerable to attack from the internet via the isp assigned internet address.
