Hi, Were using Exchange 2000 SP3 on a windows 2000 server SP4. Incoming and outgoing is working fine except for one particular company that we are sending mail to. Everytime we send an email to them, we get the following returned error message. "Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: FW: company name - OCM # 132001768 Sent: 4/7/2005 1:23 PM The following recipient(s) could not be reached: 'email address' on 4/9/2005 1:37 PM Could not deliver the message in the time limit specified. Please retry or contact your administrator. <server/domain name #4.4.7> When I go into the properties of that particular email in the "smtp" queue, it say's "retry remote delivery". It then say's "unable to Bind to the destination server in DNS". The microsoft knowledge base wasn't helpful. We are not using a mail connector. The "outbound security" under "default SMTP Virtual Server Properties" is set to "annonymous access". Any thoughts? Thanks. Mitch
Can you send to this domain from another mail account like yahoo or hotmail? Can you resolve the domain name by nslookup? I can send an email to this domain from yahoo or AOL. When I do an NSLOOKUP from a command prompt, it resolves its IP address. Any thoughts? Can you do a telnet to their MX IP on port 25? I am wondering if they are blocking you somehow. It can happen if you are blacklisted as a SPAMer. Mitch, It can also happen if they are doing a reverse DNS lookup on your SMTP server and if you don't have that setup. Some mail administrators will have this setup to reject SPAM and other malicious email. You should check with their administrator.
