RE: split route for outbound smtp email
I think I've found this may be impossible where all mailboxes are on a single
server, but am now looking at building a new Exchange Server in the same org
but in a diferent routing group, but am unsure how routing groups change the
behaviour of an Exchnage organisation.
Basically I have front end servers that handle incoming pop3, webmail, OMA,
IMAP and BES connections through an ISA server and currently a single
mailbox, public folder server all within a single routing group. If I build a
new mailbox server within the same organisation but in a separate routing
group will that allow me to set a diferent aoutbound SMTP connector for that
server and migrate mailboxes accross as and when I want them to use the
alternate outbound route?
Would this affect mailboxes accessed by POP3, IMAP, OMA, etc when their
mailbox is moved out of the routing group where the front end servers accept
these connections?
Thanks for any help.

Re: split route for outbound smtp email
Hi,
If you create another routing group and create a SMTP connector in this
routing group, you can have all mails sent to the internet from this routing
group go thru this connector and all mails to the internet from the original
routing group uses the original SMTP connector. This will not affect the
client access methods as you have front-end servers (as long as there is
connectivity fron the fe server to the new be server).
