IMAP and Pop logon error unknown user or password
My xChg2k3 server is configured for both pop3 and Imap4. The services are
running and no error messages. However, I can only login via pop or imap if
I'm logged in as Administrator. Every other user attempting to login gets:

-ERR Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

Only the administrator account works. All mobile features are enabled in
System Manager as well as in AD.

Telnet from inside to 110 gives the same response. Login as administrator,
all good. Anyone else, regardless of security equivalence, and it errors
with the above.

Imap works the same way. Admin functions normally, no one else can login.

Normal Outlook access to exchange server works and OWA works both inside and
outside.

Any thoughts, help, criticisms are welcome.
thanx.

Do your other non-admin accounts have mailbox aliases that are the
same as the logon names? If not, you will have to log in with

DOMAIN/USERNAME/ALIAS

for IMAP, or

DOMAIN\USERNAME\ALIAS

for POP (although E2K3 may not be so fussy about the orientation of
the slashes as earlier versions).

Unless you already tried that?

Lee.

Re: IMAP and Pop logon error unknown user or password
Check the Windows permissions. From memory there is one called network or
remote or something. If that only has Administrator in it, that could be
your problem.

If you add yourself to the administrators group can you then do POP
yourself?
