We've got an Exchnage 2000 cluster running on Windows 2000. We'd like to upgrade to Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 but as a stand alone server. As yet I haven't been able to find any resources on this. My theory is to evict the passive node and set it up as a clean stand alone 2003 server, and then import from the remaining active node on the cluster. However i'm not sure if this would work. Does anyone know of the correct procedure or detailed steps on this. Thanks in advance
Your approach would work nicely, if my import you mean move mailbox. Have the passive node join your organization and then simply move move mailboxes over. Don't forgot to move you public folders too. Assuming your hardware is end of life and you are getting a new Exchange 2003 Server, then the easiest way is to just add the new server to the existing organization, and the move mailboxes and public folders to the new server, then uninstall the old cluster. -- Russ Kaufmann MVP - Windows Server - Clustering http://www.clusterhelp.com - Cluster Website http://msmvps.com/clusterhelp - New Blog http://spaces.msn.com/members/russkaufmann - Old Blog
