Cluster network change
Hi,

I currently have several 2 node W2K clusters (using Geocluster). Currently
they have several NICs configured as a NIC team. This is the network that
the cluster "knows"
I wish to reconfigure the team which may mean deleting and recreating it.
Will the cluster automatically detect the new network or will I need to
reconfigure the cluster properties (how??).
I am concerned that after recreatimng the NIC team the cluster will not
start.

Thanks,

Gerry.

PS because it is a geographic cluster over a LES circuit the same network
carries public and private traffic so there is only one network on the
system that the cluster sees

You cross-posted this to the DNS group, but the question is about a 3rd
party cluster service.

But I'll try to help. Have you tried checking with GeoCluster's docs?

Re: Cluster network change
You can indeed change the local IPs and keep the cluster happy.

Take all the groups with IPs offline.
Change the IPs on each node.
Change the clustered IP resources.
Bring the groups back online.

Its pretty easy, but you take an outage to do it correctly.

Cheers,

Rod

Re: Cluster network change
Thanks for the reply,

However I am not intending to change the IP address. What I need to do is
delete and re-create the NIC team using different adapters and Teaming
driver. This will likely give the network a new name. This is the network
that is specified in the cluster properties (networks).
If this name changes will the cluster automatically pick it up ?

Gerry.

Re: Cluster network change
No worries, still just about the same steps. Take the cluster offline, do
your teaming magic, check your cluster out to make sure it got it. Start
everything and enjoy :) It will pickup the new names :)

Rod
