Recover from a disaster
We have a clustered Exchange 2000 server. Several days ago, cluster services
was stopped on both clustered servers. Now cluster service is running.
However, some Emails received recently can't be previewed opened. Also, there
is a problem to export Emails to pst files by using Exchange migrate wizard.
Please help.

Re: Recover from a disaster
Can you provide any error messages or event log notices or anything else?
How did you restore the cluster services? Did you call PSS?

Cheers,

Rod

Re: Recover from a disaster
At client side, it says "operation fails". On server side, there are some
error messages regarding "not able to access a Group policy file".

Basically, somebody changed the cluster service account password. I just
reset the service account. And reboot the servers in order for the system to
attach the SAN they use to store all the Exchange data.

Re: Recover from a disaster
A cluster failure should never cause client side issues, not after you get
it back up and running :) Are you still having GPO issues on the nodes? What
are you using Group Policy for on the machines? Are you restricting the
cluster service account?

A simple password outage would not cause what you are seeing, something else
is going on. GPO's can be very tricky. Can you go into more detail?

Cheers,

Rod

Re: Recover from a disaster
Two nodes of the cluster are also domain controllers. Now I am using domain
administrator as cluster service account. I ran netdiag and Dcdiag but didn't
see any problem. All replications are successful.

Re: Recover from a disaster
I see. Clustering DC's is not support by Microsoft and generally a very bad
idea.

See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=281662 for more
information.

Cheers,

Rod
