MS Search Instance - 800706be - The remote procedure call failed
Hi

We have the issue that the MS Search Instance on a productive cluster fails
with the following error message: 800706be - The remote procedure call failed.
Afterwards the resource is automatically brought online without any issue.
So no cluster group failover takes place.

The 2 node active / passive cluster is running Windows Server 2003 without
SP1 and Exchange Server 2003 SP1.
Another cluster (setup in a test environment) does not show this issue. The
systems are configured identical.

By searching the newsgroup archive I have found the following thread with
two recommendations from Evan Dodds:
http://www.adminlife.com/247reference/msgs/4/23579.aspx

The recommendation to deselect “Affect the group” has already been done.

I’m now wondering if the second option described -- to use a separate
resource monitor – is also a solution for a system running Exchange Server
2003, or has this issue been fixed in the meantime?
The thread is talking about Exchange 2000.

This article also refers to Exchange 2000 and not Exchange 2003
