Upgrade exchange Virtual server
Hello there
I am working on a disaster recovery plan for a E2K cluster upgrade to E3K.
I managed to restore a cluster from scratch after upgrading the first node
to be back to E2K from a full backup.
My question is, what does the command "Upgrade Exchange virtual server"
available after the first node is upgraded do?
I tried to find any documentation on MS but never managed to get an answer.
I need to know this to be sure that I do not need to restore or change any
configurations on the active directory.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Sameh

Re: Upgrade exchange Virtual server
You see this when the bits are upgraded, but the EVS has not been. Example,
Node 1 & 2 have been upgraded to Exchange 2003, the next step is to upgrade
the EVS.

Or if you already have Exchange 2003 on the nodes and you install SP1 for
Exchange 2003 on one of the nodes you will see this. If any of the nodes are
not upgraded, the EVS will not upgrade, it will error and tell you why.

Cheers,

Rod

thanks rod
what I really needed to know, is what does this command actually do
does it write anything to the active directory?

Re: Upgrade exchange Virtual server
It just upgrades the EVS to the version that the bits are at. Nothing else.
You have to do this to complete any upgrade.

Re: Upgrade exchange Virtual server
So if I upgrade cluster to E3K then restore a backup of a E2K (simulating a
disaster)
I will not need to touch the Domain controllers at all.
Right?
