I'm creating a two node Exchange Cluster. I have 3 Cluster Groups setup, 1 each for my 3 storage groups. I have 1 Data and 1 log disk in each group. I setup the IP Address resource in group 1 and when I setup the network name resource, I get an error: 87 when trying to enter the name(same as the cluster group name) in "Network Name Parameters" . What might be causing this error? Thanks in advance

It might be that there are too many Exchange Virtual Servers for a two node cluster. You can not have three Virtual Servers of Exchange on two nodes. For three virtual servers, you need 4 nodes. -- Russ Kaufmann MVP - Windows Server - Clustering ClusterHelp.com, a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner Web http://www.clusterhelp.com Blog http://msmvps.com/clusterhelp
Russ, This is my first cluster, so bear with me. Is a EVS actually just a Cluster Group with resouces assigned to it? I installed Exchange 2003 on my two nodes but have not installed it on my cluster. I am going through kb328839 on installing hotfixes and I'm not sure if I need to install Exchange on my cluster first and then install the hotfixes on the nodes or install the hotfixes on the nodes and then finish installing Exchange on the cluster. I want to have three cluster groups, one each for my Exchange storage groups, so when I expand the cluster to four nodes, I can put a storage group on each node. Rick

Sorry, I must have misread your previous post. When it comes to clustering, you should look at installation as four layers: 1. Hardware 2. Operating system 3. Cluster service 4. Applications With that in mind, all OS hotfixes should be installed before Exchange and all Exchange hotfixes should be installed after Exchange is installed.
Thanks, figured it out, thanks for the response
