Inbox can be viewed by anyone
For some reason we can open other users folder even though the security
settings are set to none. We do share our calendars and that is fine but I
don't want just anyone to be able to see the "Inbox" of the Outlook 2003
mailboxes on our Exchange 2000 server.

Are you sure that everyone is able to do this, or is it just you? It's not
unusual for an admin to be able to open other mailboxes, but no-one else
should be able to.

Lee.

Re: Inbox can be viewed by anyone
Lee,
I spot checked a few people and it is everyone that I checked. It's like the
everyone group has rights that it shouldn't or something. I'm not sure how to
check that....maybe in Exchange System manager??

Re: Inbox can be viewed by anyone
Yes, in ESM. Look for the Mailbox Store (under Servers), and check the
permissions tab.

Re: Inbox can be viewed by anyone
The "everyone" group is in there and so are "authenticated users".
"Authenticated users" has a check mark on all permissions and "everyone" has
check on Read, Write, Execute and Read Permissions. Does the everyone group
need to be in there at all? Thanks,

Re: Inbox can be viewed by anyone
I don't think Everyone should be there. Here is a list of the minimum
permissions.

Re: Inbox can be viewed by anyone
Lee,
That was it...thanks a ton. I got rid of the everyone group and changed a
few permissions according to the article. Thanks again,
