Outlook alternative
Hello, Im looking for an Exchange 2000 client that can be used remotely
and access public folders and have the look and feel of outlook being
connected directly to exchange. Microsoft Entourage for MAC does this
perfectly, but I cant find a windows client that does the same. OWA doesnt
have drag and drop abilities (ex moving spam into GFI anti spam public
folders) Entourage uses OWA settings to connect and supports all of the
above and acts just like outlook would as far as moving and deleting. I have
been searching for other clients, but coming up short. I appreciate any
suggestions. Thank you.

Re: Outlook alternative
Take a look here. This set up will allow Outlook 2003 users to RPC over
HTTP.

Re: Outlook alternative
Thanks for the reply, I am aware of that but I am running Exchange 2000
server and not looking to upgrade to 2003 anytime soon.

Please see my original post. OWA does not have enough capabilities.

Other than that, I'm not sure what your options are. You can use an IMAP or
POP client, but you don't get anything besides mail folders that way.

Why exactly can't you use Outlook? I'm not clear on that, from your
post....there's always VPN, remember.

Re: Outlook alternative
VPN is too slow. I just think its odd that Microsoft has a product for Mac
that does exactly what Im looking for and works well. You would think there
would be some other program that did the same.

Have them use VPN to connect to the server, but have them set up Outlook
with an OST file, and work offline by default. Or upgrade the workstations
to use OL2003 and use cached mode. That works fine, and is probably better
than Entourage anyway. Most Mac users envy Outlook 2003 users, in my
experience.

Aloha Lanwench [MVP - Exchange],

Outlook 2003 in cached mode across a VPN is exactly how nearly our entire
company operates (because we're all in the field 90% of the time). It works
fine.

It does indeed....I realize my last message wasn't very clear. I meant:

Use VPN and...
    a) Use OL2002/2000/98/Cuneiform Edition to sync to an OST file and work
offline by default, with scheduled syncs
or
    b) Use OL2003 and cached mode

....VPN being required regardless. Unless of course one has OL2003 and E2003
and RPC/HTTP....which is even nicer than VPN.
