hand held push clients
We have recently being hearing about the (relatively) new class of hand held
push clients (e.g., windows mobile v5 and the palm treo).

What level of software does our exchange environment need in order to take
advantage of these?

We currently have a front-end / Back-end exchange 2000 environment. Can we
upgrade just the front end server to exchange 2003 SP2 and support these
clients?

RE: hand held push clients
Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for posting here.

Based on my research, you don't need to upgrade all Back-End Server to
Exchange Server 2003 SP2; Front-End Exchange Server must be Exchange Server
2003 SP2. Let me list the requirement for hand held push clients.

- Windows Mobile 5.0 with the Message Security and Feature Pack
- Front-End server running Exchange Server 2003 SP2
- Back-End server running Exchange Server 2003 (RTM, SP1, SP2)

However as a general best practice we strongly recommend install SP2 on all
Exchange 2003 servers. Hope this clarifies. If there is anything unclear,
feel free to let me know.

Thanks and have a nice day!
