=========Mailbox Sharing===========
One mailbox will be shared by multiple users in the domain. The requirement
is that the users can fully access this shared mailbox but nobody can delete
the contacts in Contact folder of the mailbox except the domain
administrator. Does anyone have a way to do that? Thanks.

Re: =========Mailbox Sharing===========
It should be quite easy - give the domain users group permissions to
the mailbox, and then manually edit the contacts folder right. Modify
the permissions here to give domain users read-only access, and domain
admins full control.

Re: =========Mailbox Sharing===========
I gave the full mailbox access to users in Mailbox Rights on Exchange server,
and disabled Delete permission on Contacts folder in Outlook. In this way,
users can access all mailbox but they can still delete the contacts. What's
wrong?

Re: =========Mailbox Sharing===========
No, revert back to where you were.

Then logon as the "user", share the mailbox to Admins (Owner) and Users
(Publishing Author I think) and same for Inbox and Contacts. The Users
should get the permission that allows them to read items but not delete.
Can't recall exactly which permission that is!

Re: =========Mailbox Sharing===========
Nick,

At the very begginning. I did not do anything on Exchange server. I gave
read/write permission to users and no Delete Item on Contacts folder but I
found that I have to do this on every single folder and subfolder as well as
every new folder.

Re: =========Mailbox Sharing===========
Nick, Ian,

If you distribute rights in the client, you have to set them for each
folder seperatly. If you set them from active directory (or the
exchange manager in version 5.5) it sets them for the entire mailbox.
After rights have been set on a folder, all new subfolders should
inherit those rights.

Also, I would recommend that you give the domain users only read
rights.

As a last comment, is the contacts all that is used in the mailbox? If
so, you might want to consider using public folders.

Re: =========Mailbox Sharing===========
If you set the defaults in AD and the Manager forgets, then all new folders
they create will be visible to the subordinate. This could be a problem
which is why I advocate leaving the default as no access.
