Exchange 2000
Hi Everyone,

I'm having an issue with a customer removing an Exchange 2000 server.
There used to be 3 Exchange Servers, let's call then Exchange01
(Exchange 2K), Exchange02 (Exchange 2K) and FrontEnd01 (Exchange
2003). Exchange02 was shutdown one day, formatted and used as another
server. Obviously we cannot do a clean uninstall anymore, and for some
strange reason drilling down into ADSIEdit using the steps in this
article;
http://groups.google.com.au/group/microsoft.public.exchange2000.admin/browse_thread/thread/f095a68842610923/ff25dc961bffbb2d?hl=en&lnk=st&q=remove+Exchange+2000+adsiedit#ff25dc961bffbb2d

does not reveal Exchange02, only Exchange01. My question is, how do we
safely remove Exchange02 from System Manager (AD) when we cannot
uninstall or use ADSIedit?

Re: Exchange 2000
Are all DC's in the forest replicating successfully? Very possible you are
having replication issues. You can confirm by running DCDIAG and NETDIAG or
running Replmon from the Support Tools.

Yes, sorry I should have mentioned that. All DC's are replicating
without any errors. Removal or addition of users, computers, etc are
all being replicated. I'm pretty sure this is a case of unneeded
garbage not being removed at some level.

Re: Exchange 2000
Can you find the Exchange02 anywhere in AD? The article you mentioned is
the correct way from removing an orphaned Exchange Server from AD.

Ok, I was looking for an overly complex solution, when it was as
simple as removing the server from AD. Sorry to waste your time on
this one.
