Exchange 2003 - POP3 Disable
Hello,

I'm trying to connect to my Exchange 2003 using Outlook Express. I noticed
that the POP3 in my server is disable and I can not start it because all the
options are "gray". The question is, Why it is down and how can I start it?

Thanks,
Carlos

Re: Exchange 2003 - POP3 Disable
So if you right click the POP3 Service the Start is greyed out?

Re: Exchange 2003 - POP3 Disable
Yes, all the options (start, stop, pause, resume, restart) are grayed out.

Right click the Service and select Properties. Under Log On tab, what is
selected? Under Dependencies Tab, what is shown?

Re: Exchange 2003 - POP3 Disable
Under Log On tab
Log on as: Local System account

[-] Under Dependencies tab
    [-] IIS Admin Services
            Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
            [-] Security Accounts Manager
                Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

Each one are up and running (started).

Re: Exchange 2003 - POP3 Disable
Thanks for the help. With your help I was able to determine the solution
for the problem. I changed the 'Startup type' from Disable to Automatic.

Regards,
Carlos

Re: Exchange 2003 - POP3 Disable
Ah, I just assumed it was set to automatic. Makes sense, thanks for the
followup.
