Missing users in GAL? (EXCH2000)
Hi,
We're using Exchange 2000 here at work and yours truly gets to administer
it. Having an issue where some users are not appearing under their
respective Address lists.
In other words, in System Manager, under Recipients -> All Address Lists ->
My Sites, I have different lists broken out by site. As I understand it,
these lists are built off LDAP queries to AD, particularly "Build this
address list by using the members of this Distribution Group in Active
Directory". My problem is I have some lists where users aren't showing up,
some users that show up but shouldn't (ie. they aren't part of the San Diego
group in AD anymore, they are in the LA group but still show in the San
Diego address list), etc.
It's almost like Exchange is either not talking to AD correctly or the
database is horked. Is that right?
So, my question is...do I need to rebuild the RUS for the domain? Or is
this more of a ESEUTIL/ISINTEG thing?
Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks!

That sounds about right. Grab a copy of oabinteg and run oabinteg /s:srvname /t:proxytest /v:2 /l and see how many users are broken and why they are not being added to the gal.

Re: Missing users in GAL? (EXCH2000)
Dave,
Thanks for the help.
These are the results I received after running your utility:
Scan Finished
+------------
Total number of entries processed in the address book: 1269
Total number of entries skipped: 0
Total number of contacts: 0
Total number of mailboxes: 1125
Total number of distribution lists: 146
Total number of groups: 0
Total number of folders: 0
Total number of Address Book Container objects found: 0
Total number of temp legacyExchangeDN's found: 0
Total number of objects that are missing some main attributes: 0
Total number of objects that mail and proxy attribute don't match: 2
Total number of objects that do not have a domain value: 0
Total number of objects that do not have a valid unicode domain value: 0
Total number of objects that do not have a valid SMTP Domain because first character is not greater than '/': 0
Total number of objects that do not start with /o= or /O=: 0
Total user objects that are missing the Primary Proxy address attribute: 0
Total user objects with proxy addresses equal to or over 64 characters: 0
Total objects with the '@' character in the legacyExchangeDN: 1
Total objects with bad Active Directory Backlinks: 0
Total objects that have a legacyExchangeDN of ADCDisableMail: 0
Total objects that have a legacyExchangeDN of ADCDisableMailByADC: 0
It doesn't appear that I have any broken users, unless of course that would be the "2" listed above. The problem I'm experiencing is affecting multiple users in multiple address lists. I assume my next step would be to run an ISINTEG after a nice ESEUTIL compaction. Yes? (I would have run it by now but have run into an issue regarding available hard drive space...I don't have to 110% to do the compaction. Am waiting for an external USB drive to get ordered so I can offload the store and then run eseutil.)
Thanks again for the help and I'll do my best not to turn you into a Helpdesk. :)
