Need Advice: Complete exchange server move
Hi and thanks for reading.

I have three Exchange 2000 SP3 servers that have to move from our corporate
datacenter back to this site for ownership reasons. Two of the servers are
backend servers while one is the frontend server. My question is rather
simple... since there are only three servers in total, I can shut all three
servers down and move them across town in an afternoon, but is it wise to
have the entire exchange infrustructure turned off at the same time? There
are many active directory related items that can get hosed if, for example,
a domain controller is off too long, but I don't know if there some
goth'chya if the same happens to Exchange. It would all only be down for
maybe an hour or so before the first box came back up with the IP/DNS
changed and ready to go. I would think not given some people only have one
server and they have to have downtime, but I figure it's still better to ask
the community.

Thank you!

Re: Need Advice: Complete exchange server move
You should be safe moving all the servers at once. Exchange will not start
looking for another GC since it will be shutoff during the move.
