IMF Effectiveness
We currently use IMF v2 to block our spam but are in the middle of
evaluating 3rd party products to replace this. We have seen a large increase
in the amount of spam that is coming in over the past month but have not
changed the SCL levels (7 and higher_ that we're blocking spam. We have also
been diligent at updating the IMF spam filters when they've been released.
Has anyone else been experiencing this type of activity with Exchange IMF?

Thanks for any info,
Dan

The IMF is extremely good but remember that it won't chop out the
four-letter words and a great many organisations are bound by "duty of
care" to protect their users against inappropriate content.
I'd always suggest you put something in front, but not necessarily an
expensive one and not necessarily for the spam control elements.

Re: IMF Effectiveness
Mark,

Any idea on why so many spam messages are coming in with an SCL level of -1?
Is there any way to get the IMF to identify these spam messages that are
coming in at a -1 SCL level as a higher SCL level?

Any products you recommend? We're looking at the following:

Sonic Antispam Appliance
Barracuda Antispam Appliance
Symantec Brightmail or Symantec Brightmail Appliance

What are your thoughts on the three products I listed above?

Thanks,
Dan
