I have a couple of distriibution lists which are sitting in a public folder (Environment: Exchange 2003 & Outlook 2003). Is there a way I can stop the distribution lists getting expanded with its e-mail addresses when an e-mail (from Outlook 2003 of course)is sent out. Just want to suppress recipients seeing the entire list of e-mail addresses in the distribution list appearing in the To: field - instead just want the name of the distribution list to appear there. putting the DL in BCC: is no good as a recipent would not know that the particular mail has been sent to a group of people. Thanks for your help. P

Sure they would - make the SUBJECT indicate a list, BCC is the only way to not see all the addresses. -- spam999free@rrohio.com remove 999 in order to email me
Hello Leythos, Thanlks for your reply. It is not a "user firendly" or intuitive way - It is an extra thing users need to kep in their mind and probably that would be the last thing comes to mind of an average user. Are there any third party utilities which intergrate with Exchange (presumabley you will create DLs using this) which will do the job? Thanks again. Training the users is the easy way, and it's free. I send out virus/security alerts to about 200 people, and they all start the same way XXXX-ALERT: subject of message (where XXXX is the company initials of our company). All recipients are in the BCC field. > Are there any third party utilities which intergrate with Exchange > (presumabley you will create DLs using this) which will do the job? Not sure, we've always just done BCC and not tried to do it any other way. -- spam999free@rrohio.com remove 999 in order to email me
You could always make the To Address something that looks like the DL name and then put the real DL recipients in the BCC Field.
