Exchange 2003 RG Connector to Exchange 2000 Server
Is there a compatibility issue relating to routing groups between
Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2000? I have a routing group that connects
fine from the 2000 server to the 2003 server. However, the 2003 server
seems to have trouble connecting to the 2000 server. This routing
connector spans across different admin groups.

What could I be missing? All other e-mail works fine, including SMTP
to the outside.

Shouldn'y be a problem. Got any problems connecting to the server by
bog standard telnet on 25? Any routing/firewalls going on at all?

Re: Exchange 2003 RG Connector to Exchange 2000 Server
No problems connecting to SMTP via 25 on either server... I ran through
a whole SMTP session and the message was delivered. For some reason,
it just won't utilize the connector to send to another admin group.
The mail just queues up. Also, the event log somtimes alternates
between "the connector is now available" and "the connector is
unavailable".

Have you tried troubleshooting with WinRoute?

Yes, and the most I can get out of it is that either sometimes its
"down" and sometimes its "up". Doesn't really tell me any reason
why...

You never stated who is the Routing Group Master? I assume its the Exchange
2003 Server. Please read the attached KB and perform the Common Issues
section to see if any of these might be the issue.

Re: Exchange 2003 RG Connector to Exchange 2000 Server
It was the 2000 server, but was changed to the 2003 server with the
same result. There is a lot of information in the link you provided...
I am going to work through that and see if I can come up with
something. Thanks!

If anyone else has any ideas, please feel free to share.

Re: Exchange 2003 RG Connector to Exchange 2000 Server
After working through each suggestion on the MS article, the problem
still exists... I'm running out of ideas... is there some inherent
incompatibility with routing groups between 2000 and 2003?

Re: Exchange 2003 RG Connector to Exchange 2000 Server
Sorry to hear this issue is yet to be resolved. I have many customers with
Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003 RG's. I would suggest posting your issue
again with a new Thread. Microsoft PSS does review these groups so you
might in the Subject mention PSS to look at your post but there is no
gaurantees.
