about Exchange service in Front-End server
Dear all,

Im using Exchange 2000 to be Back-End and Exchange 2003 to be Front-End.
In Front-End only I need is let user access OWA via IE.

I find out that I can stop all Exchange service in Front-End, but OWA still
can work.

Is it correct? What Exchange service should enable if I only need OWA (no
need POP3 or SMTP authentication service)?

Many thanks for your help!

If you only need OWA then you can leave the SA running, the IIS
Services and that's it. Stores, MTA, SMTP, POP3 and IMAP can all be
disabled.

Hi,

If you only need OWA(HTTP), then no Exchange specific services required.

You can get more detail about "Using Microsoft Exchange 2000 Front-End
Servers"

Chapter 4 "Disabling unnecessary services"
