Hi Everybody: We are not able to send and receive e-mails with attachments over 6 MB. I have changed the settings in Exchage for Delivery Restrictions (AD Users and Computers/User Properties/Exchange General/Delivery Restrictions) for both Sending and Receiving to maximum (2097151KB alomost 2 GB). But still not able to send and receive any e-mails with large attachments. I have even disabled my firewall but that did not help the situation. We use Exchange 2000. The message when sender tries to send the large attachments: "552 5.3.4 Message size exceeds fixed maximum message size" The message when we try to send the large attachments: "#5.2.2 smtp;552 5.2.2 This message is larger than the current system limit or the recipient's mailbox is full." Any idea what could be the problem? Thanks Sam Pahlavan

Look on the properties of the SMTP Virtual Server and see what it says there. Remember that 6MB may expand to considerably more so if you have something there at 10,000KB then don't discount that as your cause.
I went to my System Manager/Admin Groups/First Admin Group/Servers/My Server/Protocols/SMTP/Default SMTP Virtual Server then properties and then Message tab: in there I have a Limit message size to 8000 KB. So this is the problem because with this setting I could only send and receive messages 8 MB large. I am going to bump this up to 12000 KB (12 MB) and sine if I am able to send and recieve attachments 11-MB or 11.5 MB large. I will let you know if that was definetly the problem. Thanks so much for your help. Glad there's something clear as a candidate.
I tried a 10-MB attachment from both my hotamil and aol accounts separately. They both bounced back. Hotmail Undeliverable Message: This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification. Delivery to the following recipients failed. spahlavan@mydomain.com AOL Undeliveralbe Message: 552 5.3.4 Message size exceeds fixed maximum message size 554 ... Service unavailable Did I need to restart my Exchange services or evern reboot the server for this change to take effect? You mentioned that a 6-MB message could expand beyond 8-MB. How does that happen? I am still unable to send large attachments. It seems like you did not read my previous post entirely.
