Is it worth it to have a copy of AD on the local Exchange server? The only way I would know how to do this is to make Exchange a DC and a GC and editing DNS so that it does not serve LDAP or logons to remote clients. But even then Exchange would have to sync with the other DCs and wouldn't that affect performance? Is there another way where the Exchange server could have it's own copy of AD to query instead of hitting the DCs to resolve emails, etc.? it is better to separate the DC/GC and the exchange role than putting it on one server -- Cheers, (HOPEFULLY THIS INFORMATION HELPS YOU!) # Jorge de Almeida Pinto # MVP Windows Server - Directory Services BLOG (WEB-BASED)--> http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/default.aspx BLOG (RSS-FEEDS)--> http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/rss.aspx ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * How to ask a question --> http://support.microsoft.com/?id=555375 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties and confers no rights! * Always test before implementing! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ################################################# ################################################# ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "fixitchris via WinServerKB.com" <u28526@uwe> wrote in message news:7b74db0c2ab0d@uwe... > Is it worth it to have a copy of AD on the local Exchange server?
