Recently we found some accounts in our Active Directory which are mailbox enabled and have their LegacyExchangeDN set to ADCMailDisabled. As a result they do not show up in the offline addressbook. They do appear in the online addressbook but not with the correct attributes (E.g. display name is ADCMailDisabled). The solution is simple, just clear the LegacyExchangeDN filed and a new valid one will be generated automatically. The problem occurs when we enable a account that was previously disabled. The question is how and why does this ADCMailDisabled value get set in the first place? We do not have an active directory connector installed, we never had a mixed environment with exchange 5.5 nor did AD run in mixed mode. We do use an automated process to create and disable our accounts via a Novell E-directory. When a user leaves the company the account is disabled. Later the mailbox connection is removed by a script. In about 50% of the cases the LegacyExchangeDN will be set to ADCMailDisabled. The rest of the time it will just be <not set> as it should be in my opinion. Anyone who can explain how this ADCMailDisabled works, when and why it gets set (with the ADC connector in place) and how to prevent it gets set please comment. To be complete we run Exchange 2003 SP1 enterprise and standard edition (21 servers total) on Windows 2003 server. Our clients are outlook 2003SP1 on the windows platform and Thunderbird on the unix platform. Kind Regards, Cyriel Lamerigts
