We used to house a seperate company on our network (STC), that used our email server and domain controller. That company recently hired their own IT department, and went their own way. The funny thing now is that although this was done several months ago (before I joined the company), and their mailboxes have been removed, no one in our company can email individuals in STC from our network (although internet based email like hotmail etc. can reach them fine). I was wondering if somewhere on our network, our email or DNS servers still believe this domain is internal. I would like to sort this as soon as I can. I didnt see the STC domain listed anywhere in Exchange System Manager. Where does Exchange 2000 look to see if a domain is internal or external? Cheers.
Start with your DNS servers to see if you have a zone for the other company also look in the recipient policies of Exchange System Manager to see if the domain is listed there.
