Hi I am investigating an issue for a customer who has not run a connection agreement for around 3 to 4 months. The agreement is in lace but the service account that is being used had it's password changed. I am unsure of the consequences of allowing this to run after it has been idle and out of date for so long. Will it just synch up everything or will it try and commit changes that happened the a long time ago and overwrite newer data. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks D
You will need to force a "Full Update" on all of your ADC connection agreements. "Tombstones" in AD (deleted items) typically expire within 30 days so a normal update may not remove some items. A full update will make sure there is a 1:1 mapping of all items in both directories. This may result in some deleted items reappearing in the source directory. ADC cannot determine if the discrepancy is because the item was never synchronized (new) or if it was deleted. The safe course of action for ADC is to recreate the item. You will probably have to find these items and delete them again. Modified items will reflect the settings on the most current instance, it is possible that some changes will be lost depending on your administration patterns but this situation is very rare. -- Please do not send email directly to this alias.
