Exchange and Global Catalog
Dear Technet,

I have a and Exchange Server Ent SP2 installed on Win2k3 SP1 member server
on a single site environment with two DC Win2k3 SP1 where I recently made
both Global Catalog Servers for redundancy prepuces. How can I configure
Exchange server to use both Global Catalog servers in case of feilover.

I use the Best Practice Analyzer Tool to address this issue and to get some
guide on that, but even now that notification message is still there "Single
global catalog in topology". I'm sure that the replication has finished until
now, the event log under Directory Services gives an information message
Event ID: 119 that the server is now a Global Catalog Server I reboot the
server as recommended but still the BPA Tool gives me the recommendation to
have at least 2 global catalog servers.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Please advice.

Thank you

Re: Exchange and Global Catalog
Hi,

You are not doing anything wrong. Exchange server should discover the
available GC's automatically.

Are both your DC's also DNS servers?
Is the exchange server configured to use both DC's as DNS servers?

Re: Exchange and Global Catalog
Yes both DCs are DNS server in Active Directory Integrated, and exchange is
point to both of them.

However now the message disepeard, most likly exchange requred more time to
find out the new service.

Thank you Leif and Heppy new Year.
