How many DC's per site?
I have 2 sites and 3 DC's at each site.
My boss things we should go down to 1 DC per site.

Each site has < 100 users per site.
I have:
2 Exchange Servers at site #1 {will consolidate to 1 clustered server
later in life}.
1 Exchange Server at site #2

The 3rd DC at each site was put online to repair a bad DC at each site.
It was free to leave it so I did.
Site #1 the repair is completed.
Site #2 the repair is not due to the complexity of how the DC is tied
to things
{DHCP, DNS, File Sharing, Print Server - Get the picture?}.
 - I've removed printing - Eventually I want to demote this DC and run
on the other 2 DC's.

I'm looking for some good facts {links} to back up my claim that I need
at least 2 per site.
Exchange is a DC hog in itself. Anyone have any links to that effect?

Thanks in advance.

Re: How many DC's per site?
Hi MAJ,

You may want to refer to this KB for information:

875427 Global catalog server placement and ratios in an Exchange 2000 Server
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=875427

It is preferable to have at least two GCs in each Active Directory site that
contains an Exchange server for scalability and fault tolerance.

Hope this helps!
