Public Folder and Distribution Group
In an attempt to remove the names involved in error reporting and replace
them with distribution groups, I've created a distribution group, lets call
it X. I have a mail-enabled public folder, lets call it Y. Distribution
group X has many members including mail-enabled public folder Y, all of the
members in the group receive e-mail when sent to this group besides
mail-enabled public folder Y. Any ideas on this? Both are visible in the
Global Contacts, mail-enabled public folder Y shows up as a member of
Distribution group X, but Distribution group X does not show up in the
"Members Of" tab of mail-enabled public folder Y, and if I try and add
Distribution group X to mail-enabled public folder Y I get the error "The
following Active Directory error occurred: The specified account name is
already a member of the local group." (This error seems understandable
except for the fact that is says "local group") Any help at all would be
greatly appreciated.

RE: Public Folder and Distribution Group
Hi Andy,

if you have multidomain AD forest you should change distribution group scope
to universal.

Re: Public Folder and Distribution Group
Thanks for the feedback, this did not work. I forgot to mention that I am
sending this from an application that uses SMTP to send messages. I would
even settle if I could send it directly to mail-enabled public folder Y via
its own smtp address, but I cannot seem to get this smtp address to work,
all messages sent within exchange arrive, anything sent via smtp address, do
not arrive as well as the fact that i get a "Undeliverable:" email to the
sender address.

Error: The message reached the recipient's e-mail system, but delivery was
refused

Any ideas? Thanks
