Is it possible to have a regular computer on my LAN act as a host for an LDAP address list of external addresses. This would be so the other computers on my network don't all have to have the LDAP service set up. Tx for the help
Yep look at ADAM. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/adam/default.mspx -- Joe Richards Microsoft MVP Windows Server Directory Services www.joeware.net Downunder wrote: > Is it possible to have a regular computer on my LAN act as a host for an LDAP > address list of external addresses. Will this work with exchange 2000? I would like to set up an LDAP address list on a host PC and then have the clients talk to this rather then each client run LDAP to the external sever. Well no. Exchange has its own address book and outlook when working with Exchange as a MAPI client doesn't use LDAP, it uses NSPI for name resolution. I think it would be possible to add an additional address list to outlook and sync the info from Exchange to the other LDAP server but I am not sure what kind of configs you would have to set inside of outlook to support this. I would certainly test the crap out of it because there could be some odd interactions. I am not entirely possible if it would stop trying to access the Exchange server as well. joe -- Joe Richards Microsoft MVP Windows Server Directory Services www.joeware.net Downunder wrote: > Will this work with exchange 2000?
