VERY weird problem with Exchange 2003
This is happening like 3 days a week. My Exchange 2003 loses sight of the AD
Domain and therefore noone can log into their mailboxes. If I run a netdiag
I get errors like:
DC discovery test. . . . . . . . . : Failed
[FATAL] Cannot find DC in domain 'SASCMH'. [ERROR_NO_SUCH_DOMAIN]
DC list test . . . . . . . . . . . : Failed
'SASCMH': Cannot find DC to get DC list from [test skipped].
Trust relationship test. . . . . . : Failed
'SASCMH': Cannot find DC to get DC list from [test skipped].
[FATAL] Secure channel to domain 'SASCMH' is broken.
[ERROR_NO_LOGON_SERVERS

The network card works because I cam get to other NIC shares etc.....
The messed up part about this is that if I simply disable my nic card and
renable it, it fixes the problem for a couple days... I switched out the MB
and I tried older NIC drivers. Does anyone have an idea here? I am totally
stumped.

Thanks

RE: VERY weird problem with Exchange 2003
Does sound wierd..so here is some oddities that I have run across:

1) If the NIC is set to AUTODETECT, you may run into problems with
switches/routers. Find out from the network engineers what the port on the
switch is set to (e.g. 100/Full Duplex). Then, force the NIC to match. If
the port on the switch is set to negotiate, ask the network folks to force it
to 100/Full Duplex.

2) Do you have developers/qa test folks around? If so, you might want to
nicely inquire as to whether they have built any domain controllers lately.
Rouge DCs on the network can cause problems similar to this amoung others.

3) More on the normal side - make sure that DNS replication (AD replication)
is working properly. REPLMON from the Support Tools should help with this.
If you have multiple domain controllers you may just have a problem with one.
To help isolate try this from a workstation having the problem:
   - With Outlook running ..
   - Hold down the CRTL key and right click the Outlook icon in the system
tray (bottom right corner of your screen)
   - Click CONNECTION STATUS and release the CTRL Key.

Now you will see a listing of the Exchange systems being used including the
domain controllers Outlook is connected to for authentication into Exchange
location of resources.

Cheers!
