Transaction Log Tools
Two questions:

1. Are there any tools that allow you to read transaction logs?
2. Are there any tools that will report on average how much mail is coming
into your network?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks -- dee

Re: Transaction Log Tools
- There's nothing to "read' in the transaction logs. Specifically, if you
want to read email content - you can't really "read" the Exchange database
or transaction logs using some out-of-band tool. Were it possible, I'm not
sure many folks would use Exchange.
- To get stats/reports related to mailflow, you need to look at the Message
Tracking logs. You can roll your own tools/scripts/code to create reports
based on these, or use third-party reporting tools like Quest MessageStats,
Promodag, etc. If you have MOM/SCOM, it does some reporting as well.

Should be helpful. You can also use the logparser utility from the IIS 6.0
reskit to parse the message tracking logs.
