Backup of Outlook
Hi

I am using Exchange 2003 SP2 on Windows 2000 SP4. I am using Veritas Backup
Exec to backup my Exchange data, however paranoa has taken over me. I
would like a free tool that would allow me to backup my users mailboxes/pst
at the brick level. Can anyone suggest any such tools. Please note that
some users mailboxes are over the 2GB limit.

Currently I use the Exmerge utility, however I find that mailboxes over 1GB
do not restore successfully with this tool.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Huh?
You're using Veritas Backup Exec. That's got the facility within it.
Sure, it's ridiculously wasteful in disk/tape but you've got it.

Re: Backup of Outlook
I am more looking for a tool that allows for successful backup at the pst
level. Is there such a tool. In so far that a user is trying to obtain
one old/archived email from 2 years ago, I will not have to restore an
entire mailbox to get the one email, a restoration of the pst would be much
faster.

You can script and schedule the exmerge utility. However, you probably
shouldn't bother trying.
num=20&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS256&q=schedule+script+exmerge will give
you two hits (top two) on what I mean.

You should learn a whole lot more about your backup solution and how
it both backs up and restores because your statement about restoring a
whole store just to get at a mailbox or mail item belies your lack of
knowledge on Veritas.

Re: Backup of Outlook
Implement Journaling, and a third party archiving solution.
