Problem installing ExBPA 2.7.7830.0
Windows 2003 Server Std, Exchange Server 2003 Std SP1, Installing ExBPA
2.7.7830.0.

All defaults except I change the target directory to D:\Program
Files\exchsvrv\ExBPA. Install proceed toa bout the 75% point and then I get
error message: "A network error occurred with attempting to read from the
file:..."

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Don

Re: Problem installing ExBPA 2.7.7830.0
Hi Don,

Thanks for your email. I don't know the answer offhand, but I have a few
suggestions.

Try running the msi locally. From the initial File Download dialog, click
on Save rather than Run and save ExBPA.msi to a local disk, and then run
ExBPA.msi.

If that doesn't work, could you confirm that D: is a local disk and not a
network share?

Is there any more information about the error? Does it give the name of the
file that it couldn't read? Does the progress dialog say what the latest
action is?

Thanks,

Jack

Re: Problem installing ExBPA 2.7.7830.0
The error message is misleading. D: is a local drive - not a network volume.

As a/the developer, you may want to look into the error message piece. :)

Also, I noted that the installation startup screen says version 2.5, not 2.7
:0

Note: previously, in order to specify my preferred installation folder
location, I was typing the name of the path to a folder that did not yet
exist. This time, I used the installer "Create New Folder" icon instead. No
change.

The step at which the installer fails appears to be "publishing product
information".

Thanks!

Re: Problem installing ExBPA 2.7.7830.0
More info...

this whole installation attempt was preceeded by the installation and launch
of a previous version. On launch, I was advised of the existence of a newer
version. My memory is unclear of the steps I took from there.

I may have tried the 'inline' update and it failed or I may have just
canceled the install. But in either case I was trying to update.

I'm fairly sure I used the Add/Remove Programs control panel to uninstall
the older version first.

I tried it again just now but it did not succeed reporting that "there is a
problem with the Windows Installer package...".

It's looking to *me* like there may be a registry entry that is getting in
the way or a DLL registration problem...?

Thanks!
Don
