Transfering PST to server
Hello all,
I am about to set up Exchange server for the first time and I need to know
one thing.
Currently we are running a POP3 server so all mail is stored locally on the
clients computers and we need to transfer the PST to the server so that it
can be stored there.
Is there a way to do this?

Re: Transfering PST to server
The easiest way to perform the transfer of data is move the current
email messages to a PST file for each user. When you install the
Exchange server have the users copy the content from the PST files to
their inbox. This will store the data on the Exchange server. I would
recommend however, to copy the PST files to a network share, make a
backup of the PST files, and not have the users copy all the email
messages to the Exchange server. This will minimizes the storage of
you Exchange server.

Re: Transfering PST to server
Name each PST as the username. Put them all together in one folder. On the
server, run exmerge to push all data in. Then configure the clients to use
the Exchange Server option not PSTs and you are done. No clients need get
harmed.

Re: Transfering PST to server
Make sure you're aware of the exmerge and pst limitations however. 2GB or
larger mailboxes will require more than 1 pst. They will need to be
non-unicode psts, etc...
