mailbox move problem
Hi -

I'm trying to clean out some old mailboxes from our primary storage group to
a newly created one that will be used to archive these mailboxes.

However, I'm getting the following errors:

<item adsPath="USERNAM" class="user">
  <progress code="0" milliseconds="1562">Connecting to source
server.</progress>
- <summary isWarning="false" errorCode="0xc1050000">
The information store could not be opened. The logon to the Microsoft
Exchange Server computer failed. MAPI 1.0 ID no: 80040111-0286-00000000

In Event Viewer:

Event Type: Error

Event Category:MAPI Session
Event ID: 9175
Description:

I did find article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317338/ - but in this
article it also lists the following error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: (11)
Event ID: 9176
Description:
NSPI Proxy can contact Global Catalog GLOBALCATALOG-SERVERNAME but it does
not support the NSPI service. After a Domain Controller is promoted to a
Global Catalog, the Global Catalog must be rebooted to support MAPI Clients.
Reboot GLOBALCATALOG-SERVERNAME as soon as possible.

I do not get this error, just the first three described in the KB article.

I have not recently added a global catalog server, but did look at AD Sites
and Services and noticed that all the Domain Controllers on my network (3)
seem to be global catalogs, including the mail server itself.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks,
Lawrence

Re: mailbox move problem
Most of the time when I see this type of message, especially, when I'm doing
"cleanup" operations, its because the AD account is disabled. I've found
that I can't move mailboxes if the user account isn't enabled. I usually
enable it (after changing the password), wait 5 minutes, and then try moving
it again.

Of course, remember to disable it again when you're done.

Or you can just add the "SELF" account to the "Mailbox rights" and
assign it Read permission", "Full mailbox access" and "Associated
external account" rights.

Re: mailbox move problem
Hi -

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try enableing the account in AD, but I
still get the same errors.
