Some users were having problems sending mail to a specific domain so I ran the SMTPDIAG tool on the Exchange server and these are the results I got below: Can anyone help by telling me what error 10053 is and how to solve this problem ? Many thanks in advance: C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\BIN>smtpdiag "administrator@nakedcomms.com" "paddy.adams@chiadvertising.com" Searching for Exchange external DNS settings. Computer name is EXCHANGE1. VSI 1 has the following external DNS servers: There are no external DNS servers configured. Checking SOA for chiadvertising.com. Checking external DNS servers. Checking internal DNS servers. SOA serial number match: Passed. Checking local domain records. Checking MX records using TCP: nakedcomms.com. Checking MX records using UDP: nakedcomms.com. Both TCP and UDP queries succeeded. Local DNS test passed. Checking remote domain records. Checking MX records using TCP: chiadvertising.com. Checking MX records using UDP: chiadvertising.com. Both TCP and UDP queries succeeded. Remote DNS test passed. Checking MX servers listed for paddy.adams@chiadvertising.com. Connecting to mail.chiadvertising.com [217.154.212.34] on port 25. Connecting to the server failed. Error: 10053 Failed to submit mail to mail.chiadvertising.com.
As the message says it couldn't connect to the SMTP system. Have you tried this manually or did you run SMTPDiag again. I just connected to mail.chiadvertising.com without a problem. Thanks for your response. The strange thing is that some users can send fine and others cant. The users that seem to be experiencing these problems tend to be using Entourage on Mac's. When I look in "Message Tracking Centre" in Exchange system manager it looks as though they have sent each message 6 times. This also happens when they send an internal meeting request as you receive it 6 times. I hope this gives you more info. Many thanks again
Can you confirm how DNS is setup up on your Exchange server. Also, how are you routing email within and from Exchange? On the Exchange server the Primary DNS server is the server on our Network (192.168.x.x) and the secondary is a DNS server of our ISP. There are no external DNS servers configured on the SMTP server as I used to have them in but we still had the same problem. >From our Exchange there is a smart host which sends all our email out to messagelabs first. Thanks again
Have a look at this. http://kbase.pscs.co.uk/index.php?article=241 "GH79" wrote in message news:1142863174.964920.164480@u72g2000cwu.googlegroups.com... > Some users were having problems sending mail to a specific domain so I > ran the SMTPDIAG tool on the Exchange server and these are the results > I got below: > > Can anyone help by telling me what error 10053 is and how to solve this > problem ? > > Many thanks in advance: > > C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\BIN>smtpdiag "administrator@nakedcomms.com" > "paddy.adams@chiadvertising.com" > > Searching for Exchange external DNS settings. > Computer name is EXCHANGE1. > VSI 1 has the following external DNS servers: > There are no external DNS servers configured. > > Checking SOA for chiadvertising.com. > Checking external DNS servers. > Checking internal DNS servers. > SOA serial number match: Passed. > > Checking local domain records. > Checking MX records using TCP: nakedcomms.com. > Checking MX records using UDP: nakedcomms.com. > Both TCP and UDP queries succeeded.
