While doing an online backup recovery of an earlier database file, I have run into a problem with the Store not mounting because of a SID name issue by one character. Is their anyway to fix this without uninstalling and reinstalling Exchange, as I have read?
I have never heard of a SID name issue. Can you post the exact errors you are seeing in the GUI and/or App Log and I may be able to help you out /Simon "ohiodolfan" wrote in message news:OI0DtKfQGHA.3924@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... > While doing an online backup recovery of an earlier database file, I have > run into a problem with the Store not mounting because of a SID name issue > by one character. Sorry, I don't know why I put SID, another separate issue already resolved. It is instead the distinguished name for the Exchange organization. It is different from the default name that Exchange loaded when prompted on this install. Any ideas on that other than to uninstall, reinstall? OK. How did you get in this situation? Can you give a little background? Have you reinstalled the organisation and are trying to restore and old databases or just to mount an old copy of a database? Is this a recovery server? There is a tool called legacydn that will change various DNs in AD so that it matches that of your DB. (You can get it from the Exchange 2003 Tool download site) This tool is meant to be used in a recovery or lab environment. By default it runs in read only mode but you can force it to run in read/write mode. I have used this tool many times with great susccess. /Simon "ohiodolfan" wrote in message news:O%23uSfNwQGHA.6084@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > Sorry, I don't know why I put SID, another separate issue already > resolved. As I described back in the first message this is a online recovery of the database on a new installation. Service Pack issues caused me to have to do a clean install of SBS 2003 and then use my backups for data. I will try this tool today and let you know how it goes. Thanks.
