Exchange 2003 connectivity and DSAccess issues
Hi there,
Can anyone help me with the following situation please?
I have a single forest with 2 domains, parent and child;
PARENT
1) Server A1 - (Win2k3 + SP1) Infrastructure master
2) Server A2 - (Win2k3 + SP1) PDC, RID Master, Domain Master, Schema Master,
GC
3) Server A3 - (Win2k3 + SP1) Exchange 2003 + SP2
4) Server A4 - (Win2k3 + SP1) Exchange 2003 + SP2
CHILD
4) Server B1 - (Win2k3 + SP1) Infrastructure Master
5) Server B2 - (Win2k3 + SP1) PDC, RID Master, GC
6) Server B3 - (Win2k3 + SP1) Exchange 2003 + SP2

There are no Exchange clusters configured.
For some reason I have to run domain prep on each domain controller because
exchange looses its privileges, I get the following error messages on the
exchange servers:
1) Process EMSMTA.EXE (PID=2856). Exchange Server haw0itexca01.gust.local
does not have Audit Security Privilege on Domain Controller
haw0itdca02.gust.local. This Domain Controller will not be used by DSAccess.
(Event ID 2112)

2) Process EMSMTA.EXE (PID=2856). DSAccess has discovered the following
servers with the following characteristics:
 (Server name | Roles | Reachability | Synchronized | GC capable | PDC |
SACL right | Critical Data | Netlogon | OS Version)
In-site:
Server A1 CDG 7 7 1 0 0 1 7 1
Server A2 CD- 6 6 0 0 1 1 6 1
Server B1 CDG 7 7 1 0 0 1 7 1
Server B2 CD- 6 6 0 0 0 1 6 1
 Out-of-site:

3) Process INETINFO.EXE (PID=372). All Global Catalog Servers in use are not
responding:
Server A2
Server B2

4) Process WMIPRVSE.EXE -EMBEDDING (PID=3048). All Global Catalog Servers in
use are not responding:
Server A2
Server B2

5) Process EMSMTA.EXE (PID=2856). All Global Catalog Servers in use are not
responding:
Server A2
Server B2

6) Process STORE.EXE (PID=2776). All Global Catalog Servers in use are not
responding:
Server A2
Server B2

7) Process MAD.EXE (PID=1900). All Global Catalog Servers in use are not
responding:
Server A2
Server B2

8) Process MAD.EXE (PID=1900). All Global Catalog Servers in use are not
responding:
Server A2
Server B2

Can anyone please help me with the following problem?

Thanks
Hens

Re: Exchange 2003 connectivity and DSAccess issues
Exchange loses it's privileges? That's odd, but it's also indicative of
something going on in the AD side of things. Have you verified that your
Active Directory is working properly and that any one else with
administrative privs is not doing something?

My first take would be to verify my AD including site and GC configurations
to ensure they are correct. I also would want to verify the health of the
AD. If you don't find something there, post back the checks you did and if
you're still having the problem along with the frequency of the problem as
you're seeing it.

Re: Exchange 2003 connectivity and DSAccess issues
Hi,

If AD works properly then its may happen due to the DNS client configuration
at the Exchange Server. You assign the proper Active Directory DNS Server.

Regards,
Achintya.
