What "Blackberry Mail Service" are you using? BES, BIS, POP3, Desktop Redirector? Yes, u have right but for example im use Godaddy account on my Blackberry and there when i open my web mail i see all emails as unreaded, maybe some option or key in registry manage this, i still looking. In your Blackberry, you could go to your messages, select Options, select Email Reconciliation and set Wireless Reconcile to OFF.
