Here is my situation: I had a exchange server crash at a customers site. no backups and corrupted EDB and STM. I did a reinstall of exchange on a new box exactly like the old box with the /disasterrecovery switch. Can i create a new mailbox store and new users accounts of the existing users and will it keep the Active directory exchange information? I am figuring once i do this i have good PST files that i can import back into the exchange mailboxes. Does this scenario work?

Make sure the mountat startup is ticked and the overwritten by a restore isn't ticked (on the properties of the store obviously)

Hence, by mounting blank store - mailboxes would exist (however they would be empty). You would have to ask your users to log into OL once, or send a test email to everyone for the mailboxes to get populated in ESM
