We are running Windows 2003 domain controllers with Exchange 2000. We are setting up co-existence for EX2007. In the process of setting up the active directory for the EX2007 install I am getting a message when I run command: setup /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions This results in a the following message: FAILED - One or more AD connectors have been found. Please remove all Active Directory Connectors. The thing is that I don't find any ADC installed in the EX2000 server, but I suspect there may be remnants from the time when we used to run EX 5.5 before the EX2000 upgrade. I have checked the EX2000 server's add/remove programs and don't find any connectors listed or any MS ADC services running either. EX 2K System Manager also has no replication connectors or any site replication services installed that may affect this and the EX organization is native mode. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanx in advance
Hi If you have ADC installed you can find the server that holds this software component in sites and serverices snap in. you can remove the software by using "add remove software" from control panel If the server is gone and not all connection agreements are removed before you can delete them direct in the configuration container of your AD. look for them in - Configuration - Services - Microsoft Exchange here you will find two contaniers, one for your Exchange Org and the other one contains the connection agrrements that the setup has found. The connection agreements in the second container must be deleted. Henry "mike" wrote: > > We are running Windows 2003 domain controllers with Exchange 2000. I don't know what happened that my previous post is empty. I write it again: First, look in sites and services snap in. the server where the ADC was installed should be listed here as long as the server is not removed from AD. youn remove the software from this server using add remove software from control panel. If the ADC was removed but not all connection agreements are deleted before, you can delete them from the configuration container in AD use adsiedit.msc open - configuration - serverices - Microsoft Exchange here you will find two contaniers one for your Exchange Org and the other one for the connection agreements now you can delete all existing connection agreements from the second container some usefull information can be found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822450/) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272314/ Henry "mike" wrote: > > We are running Windows 2003 domain controllers with Exchange 2000. Yes, I see my two DCs plus my exchnange 2K (former EX5.5 a long time ago) email server listed in the sites and services. The EX2K shows one ADC. But althoug if I right click I have the option to delete the ADC there is no option to remove in the Add/remove programs. Also, do I need this ADC for the EX2K box? I know the ADC is required for X5.5, but does it also play a role in EX2K communication with AD? WIll the EX2K still communicate with AD if I delete it? Thnx a lot for the info and I apprecieate your help. "mike" wrote: > > We are running Windows 2003 domain controllers with Exchange 2000. We are > setting up co-existence for EX2007. Hi I havn't an answer for any of your questions. I don't have an equivalent environment here to see what you see. But I'll try to help: if your Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 / 2003 migration is finished, all newer Exchange server do NOT need the ADC anymore. It is safe to delete it. the "Add / Remove" option is available at the former ADC server, not at the server where you probably look at "sites and services". before deleting / removing the ADC you should follow the links from my previous posting. - remove Connection Agreements - remove SRS and so on... Great. That is correct. We no longer run EX5.5. We upgraded about 5 years ago to Ex2k. What triggered me to post the issue is that in the add/remove programs of the ex2k server the ADC is not listed either. I will follow your links for detailed inof. Thnx for the all the help. I removed the ADC record using adsiedit and also using the sites and services snap-in. I had to do both since the update failed after only using adsiedit. It worked!!! I was able to update the pemissions without a problem once both records were detelete. Thnx for all the help. "Henry" wrote: > Hi > I havn't an answer for any of your questions.
