Setup Active Sync for Ipaq 5915 WM5
I have an Ipaq 5915 (Travel Companion) with WM 5.0
What's the steps to setup the device to get direct push from Exchange 2007?

Thanks

Bill

Re: Setup Active Sync for Ipaq 5915 WM5
1. Export the Server RootCA certificate to the device.
2. Run the certificate on the device to install it.
3. Set the server FQDN address, username, password and domain on Activesync
at the device.

Re: Setup Active Sync for Ipaq 5915 WM5
Thanks Helio.
This works well when I run active sync.
Can you please help me understand the concept of direct push? My Blackberry
server pushes email to my BB device. Does Exchange 2007 do the same thing?
Where do I go to configure the server to do that?

Thanks

Bill

Re: Setup Active Sync for Ipaq 5915 WM5
Dear Peter;

Thanks for the tip.

In reading the article, I have 3 questions, hoping you can enlighten me:

1. Direct Push:
How do I know that the server ACTUALLY pushes email to my VM5.0 device? I
remember setting the sync schedule to every 5 mins. Direct push, in my
understanding, is instantly, such as BlackBerry push. I didn't have to set
the sync schedule.

2. SMS based AUTH notifications and that $20 a month for unlimited text
messages: If I have a WM5/WM6 mobile phone (which still have to come from a
carrier such as AT&T and their outrageous monthly charge) , how can I get
free text messages with Exchange direct push?

3. Chad's comment regarding not being able to make outbound phone call when
the device is password locked: has this been resolved? I must be able to get
rid of my Blackberry World Edition somehow!

Thanks

Bill

Re: Setup Active Sync for Ipaq 5915 WM5
You're welcome...

1) The mobile keeps a tcp/ip session open with IIS on the server. No data is
sent until the server informs the mobile about a new message
2) Don't use the SMS method for getting notifications, if you use the direct
push method then you're not.
3) If the device is password locked then you cannot do anything other than
make emergency phone calls and this depends upon your carrier.

HTH
